scott

We started to work with Viki in January when my dog, Scott, a 9 months old working line border collie was in the middle of his puberty. How it always goes, as a first dog owner, I made lots of mistakes. Our biggest issue was to gain Scotts focus in high distraction environment. He’s a very stubborn, independent dog. Of course, his strong herding instinct also didn’t make our job easier. By the time we found Viki, he wanted to herd other dogs so much that he wasn’t interested neigther in food or toys. I learnt from Viki how important it is to communicate clear to our dog and how to do it in practise. I learnt how to make my dog perform what we tought him when at that moment he doesn’t want to do it.

In January I didn’t think that within 3 months Scott will come back from other dogs, we will be able to pass dogs on a loose the leash and we will be able to walk off leash in a park without having to run after him because he doesn’t react to a call, treat or toy and he’s running to the opposite direction while I’m trying to act like his owner. For him everything else was more interesting then me. No matter how hard it was sometimes to change Scott’s attitude for some reason the lessons alwas passed in a good mood and I was alwas waiting every week to go and learn something new from Viki and Ninja.

Today we can walk off leash even int he streets. He know and keeps the sidewalk rule in any situation. He’s not bothered anymore by bikers, skaters, scooters or running, screaming kids. We easily pass dog off leash by taking Scott by my side in a heel. These all are due to Viki! Of course there are always new situations. We just started to do agility where we face new situations. There’s always to room to improve but Viki but us on the right road. She showed us how to be such a wonderful team like she and her dog, Ninja. We are grateful for everything!
